To be a student at the Université de Savoie gives you the chance to meet hundreds of foreign students (who constitute 12% of the student body) and to be able to take part in our international exchanges with Europe and the rest of the world. The Université de Savoie is one of the leading French universities in terms of European exchanges with about one thousand students taking part each year in exchange programmes such as « Erasmus » or « Explora sup ». Certain university programmes emphasise international mobility to the point of making it an obligatory part of the course to spend several months, or even several semesters, in another country. The Université de Savoie also offers a large choice of joint-degrees: in the academic year beginning September 2008 there are 15 joint degrees on offer (9 at the Master's level and 6 for the Licence). Besides this, many doctoral theses are jointly validated with foreign universities. Whilst the international dimension of the University covers the five continents (with more than 240 partnership agreements signed), we also take advantage of our geographic frontier location by developing special links with Switzerland and Italy and particularly with the Universities of Lausanne, Geneva, Turin, Val d'Aosta and Vercelli. The University operates a welcoming programme for incoming international students and teaching staff, and offers them continuous assistance in achieving a full integration into French university life and work. One aspect of this is the teaching of the French language through the Savoie Institute of French Studies for Foreigners (ISEFE: Institut Savoisien d'Etudes Françaises pour Etrangers).
